This is an amazing painting with such emotional resonance. I am getting ready to preach on Christ's teaching to his disciples in the Garden of Gethsemane, and this painting captured exactly my mental image of a weary Jesus, near the end of his earthly ministry in Jerusalem, exhausted but still willing to suffer for our healing.

This angle captures the fact that this building was once a "shotgun" fire station -- one long building which held two engines end-to-end with living space at the top. The ground floor is the fellowship hall and kitchen, and the sanctuary is upstairs and accessible to everyone by a chair-type escalator up the narrow front stairs.

These are almost but not quite box pews. Nice retrofitting gives the sanctuary an Early American design in white and colonial blue with dark wood accents. This is the view from the pulpit back toward the organ.
